For home-service businesses

Every Call Counts. Even the Ones You Miss.

When you're under a sink or up on a roof, RingOnce offers the caller a text back from your business right after the missed call, then sends their reply straight to your phone. A missed call doesn't have to be a missed job.

  • Keep your current number
  • No app to install
  • Reply from your own phone

RingOnce is enrolling founding pilot customers in Orange County, California. The workflow on this page is built and tested in simulation. Live phone-carrier testing happens with each pilot business during setup, before any real customer is texted.

See it in action

Watch a missed call turn into a job

Here's what happens when you can't pick up, start to finish. Example business and fictional numbers.

The difference

The same missed call, two very different endings

Homeowners with a leak or a dead AC often call around. Getting back to them first puts you in a strong position to win the job.

Without RingOnce

  1. 1The call goes to voicemail. Some callers hang up without leaving a message.
  2. 2They try the next company on the list while you're still on the job.
  3. 3You notice hours later in your call log, with no idea what they needed.
  4. 4You call back, and either play phone tag or hear "we already found someone."

With RingOnce

  1. 1The caller presses 1 to get a text from your business right after the missed call: "Sorry we missed you, how can we help?"
  2. 2They reply with the details: what's wrong, where, how urgent.
  3. 3You get it on your phone as a text, ready to act on between jobs.
  4. 4You text back from your own phone or call them. If they call that number back, it rings you.
How it works

Three steps. Zero new apps.

RingOnce runs quietly in the background and only steps in when a call goes unanswered.

01

Missed Call

A customer calls your usual number and you can't pick up. Your phone forwards the unanswered call to your dedicated RingOnce number.

02

Automatic Follow-Up

The caller hears a short greeting and can press 1 to get a text from your business. Only callers who ask are texted. The text is written your way, with an easy way to opt out.

"Hi, this is Mike's Plumbing. Sorry we missed your call. How can we help you today? Reply STOP to opt out."
03

Owner Notification

You get a text with who called and what they replied. Answer by texting back from your own phone. It reaches the customer from your RingOnce number, signed with your business name.

"Reply 0123 We can be there at 3pm" goes straight to that customer.

You keep your number.

Customer calls your number You don't answer Forwarded to your RingOnce line Caller presses 1 for a text + you're alerted

Calls you answer work exactly as they do today. This works with most phone providers, and we test yours during setup. Turning it off takes one setting change.

Texts only when askedCallers press 1 to get a text, and their consent is recorded. Repeat calls the same day don't trigger repeat texts.
Reasonable hoursAutomatic texts only go out between 8am and 9pm, your local time.
STOP means stopAnyone who opts out is never texted again, and you're told.
Undelivered? You'll knowIf a text can't be delivered, like to a landline, you're told to call instead.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I have to change my business number?

No. You keep the number on your trucks, website, and Google listing. Unanswered calls are forwarded to a local number we set up for your business. Calls you pick up aren't affected.

Will it work with my phone service?

It needs "forward when unanswered" (conditional call forwarding), which most cell carriers and business phone systems support. We test yours during setup, including whether your carrier passes along the caller's number.

What number does the customer get the text from?

From your dedicated local RingOnce number. The message names your business. If the customer calls that number back, it rings your phone.

How do I reply to a customer?

Just text back from your own phone, starting with the last 4 digits of their number, for example "0123 I can be there at 3pm." It goes to the customer from your business number.

What if a customer doesn't want texts?

They're never texted unless they ask by pressing 1 on the missed-call greeting. Every text explains how to opt out. If someone replies STOP, or writes something like "please stop texting me," they won't get automatic texts from your business again, and you're notified.

Will customers get texted at night or over and over?

No. Automatic texts only go out between 8am and 9pm your local time, and a caller gets at most one automatic follow-up per day, even if they call several times.

Is this legal? What about texting rules?

Business texting in the US has rules, including carrier registration and honoring opt-outs. Callers ask for the text by pressing 1, and that consent is recorded with the call. RingOnce also registers each business with the carriers and builds in opt-out handling, quiet hours, and record-keeping. We can't give legal advice, and you're welcome to have your own advisor review how it works.

Does it record my calls or use AI?

It doesn't record calls. The standard pilot uses your own approved wording plus your replies. An optional AI text assistant is being developed and isn't part of the pilot unless you ask about it.

How long until it's running?

Setup with you takes about 30 minutes. Before texts can go out, phone carriers must approve your business for texting, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. We handle that paperwork.
